The warmth feels good. We’ve just come through winter, we know the summer heat to come. We can fully appreciate the space between.
If an E.T. were dropped into a spring Baltimore scene—the harbor breeze, a warm morning—how would they appreciate it without the seasonal context?
Money can be like that too.
A look at a bank account gives a real feeling in the moment—relief, stress, confidence, concern. BUT by itself it is only one scene. To understand your financial health, it helps to know what came before it and what is coming next.
Financial peace rarely comes from looking harder at one number. It usually comes from clearer context.
The bank account matters, of course. BUT by itself it can only say so much. A healthier view asks a few more questions: What do I actually have access to today? What have I already committed to? What is likely still coming toward me?
Cash tells you what is present.
Payables tell you what is already committed.
Receivables tell you what may be arriving.
We need to have clarity here to guide any decision in front of us.
I hope to see you there, if you can't make it reach out and let me know what the biggest money woe is facing you (maybe, it's as simple as getting more of it.)
